All adults that come into contact with children have a responsibility to be vigilant in order to identify concerns, share information and take prompt action. Our culture of safeguarding takes place on three levels:
- Universal Safeguarding – it is our responsibility to keep all students safe by creating a physically, socially and emotionally safe environment. Our relationship-led approach, particularly through our Coaching programme, means that every child has an adult to talk to and to recognise if they need support.
- Targeted Safeguarding – we provide increased levels of support for those students whose personal, social or economic circumstances may result in increased risk to their safety.
- Specialist Safeguarding – we work with external agencies to provide more specialised support for students and families that are experiencing harm and their safety is at risk.
Internet Safety
As technology continues to develop and our students’ independence grows, it is natural that they will explore the internet, both in school and at home.
The internet offers great solutions for everyday problems and is widely used for education, entertainment and social networking. In the classroom, it is used to enhance our students’ learning and encourages independence for them to explore and discover new things.
However, we need to make sure that we support our students while they are using the internet, to make sure they are accessing it in a safe, secure and knowledgeable way. This means that if anything was to go wrong, they know how to react and resolve the situation.
