Teaching Assistant
Wetherby High School is a forward-thinking school in a semi-rural area of North Leeds. We are proud of our caring and inclusive reputation and have a strong team of professionals committed to developing and delivering a rich learning experience for all our students.
Our school community is based upon an inclusive and restorative ethos that we believe best allows every student the opportunity to realise their full potential. We are in an exciting phase of expansion with increasing numbers on roll and building work due to start on a new building for the school community.
We are now looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who has the tenacity, skills and flexibility to work in a fast-moving environment and the passion to help our children to progress and develop. This post would suit someone looking for a career as Teaching Assistant or for experience to support a step into teaching.
The successful candidate will have Maths and English GCSEs grade C or above, strong IT skills, well developed organisational and communication skills and a basic understanding of child development and learning strategies. An awareness of special educational needs and disabilities would be useful. The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties including: supporting pupils’ learning and overall well-being; assisting teachers and other colleagues in the classroom and in small group interventions; recording and collating information; developing good relationships with parents/carers, colleagues and partner organisations; preparing classroom resources, equipment and materials; and supporting the implementation of whole school strategies, including literacy, our Coaching programme and House system, after school clubs, further and flexible learning and invigilation duties.
It is essential that the post holder shares our school ethos which is firmly rooted in a restorative approach and the following values: to ‘Know our children well’; to be ‘Partners in Learning’; to develop ‘Character for Achievement’; to ‘Enjoy and Aspire’. We firmly believe that in order to move forwards we need to be prepared and able to ‘do things differently and do different things’.
We significantly invest in the development and training of all colleagues who are equally happy to share their expertise, skills and knowledge across the organisation. If you are looking to be stretched and challenged within a positive and creative staff team and you have a genuine desire to make a positive difference to our children, please submit an application form, covering letter and CV to [email protected].
We encourage early applications and reserve the right to close this advert early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
